It is 18 months since the Grenfell tower fire and tall buildings across Croydon remain a fire risk. To date the government has backtracked on its promises to help.
Residents of Croydon are living in high rise blocks with Grenfell-style cladding which still has not been removed because residents cannot pay for the work and the Tory government refuses to help.
Croydon’s Labour council is fitting sprinklers in every high-rise council block, but we are calling on the Tories in Westminster to ensure that flammable cladding is removed from all tall private buildings and to back Labour’s plan for a £1bn Fire Safety Fund to finance local council’s work to retrofit sprinklers in social housing blocks.
Sign the petition below to join us and demand fire safety for all our tall buildings!
We the undersigned call on Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government James Brokenshire MP to ensure that flammable cladding is removed from all tall private buildings and to back Labour’s plan for a £1bn Fire Safety Fund to finance local council’s work to retrofit sprinklers in social housing blocks.
