- The Clocktower, completed in 1900, still stands at the junction of Thornton Heath High Street and Parchmore Road, on a site previously called Walker’s Green.
- In 1961 a plane carrying a school trip from Lanfranc School on Mitcham Road crashed into a mountain near Stavanger in Norway. The Lanfranc Memorial remembers those who lost their lives in the crash.
